I’m pleased to publish our new inspection report.
As I mentioned in a previous letter the inspection process was extremely thorough. The positive outcomes owe much to the incredible (daily) effort made by a truly special staff team. The Inspectors were rightly taken by the quality relationships between staff and the positive environment this creates for children to enjoy. One of the Inspectors was so impressed with the quality of provision in our Early Years they paid the ultimate complement; in that they would love their grandchild to attend High Spen – praise indeed!

The report identifies many things which pupils, parents, Governors and staff should be proud of:-
– the safe and happy environment we create in which children are exceptionally well cared for,
– the way children settle well to their work, are keen to do their best, and take pride in their presentation,
– the outstanding partnerships with our local community,
– the support we receive from parents, overwhelmingly agreeing that teaching is good, parents feel well informed and able to support children at home and children are making good progress,
– the extremely supportive governing body which has a firm grasp on school strengths and areas for improvement,
Rightly the report also identifies where we need to go next in order to continue to improve. Happily the Inspectors were pleased to see these areas for improvement were already identified within school and as such there were no unpleasant surprises!

Finally, the Inspectors told me the average parental return of questionnaires averages less than 30%; despite the fact you had recently completed the same questionnaire for school – over 50% of you did so again for OFSTED – this level of support is really appreciated.
Please get in touch if there is any element of the report you wish to discuss further.
