On Thursday 28th June, FWD visited Durham University.

It is a day which we will not forget in a hurry – not least because it was the day of the worst flooding in the North-East for such a long time.

During the morning we discovered what it would be like to be a student. We took part in various activities:

Being a scientist and exploring the laboratories with their very state of the art technology

Visiting one of the University Libraries – nothing like our school library we can assure you!

Receiving a lecture from a Professor on children and crime

In the afternoon we showcased our work linked to the Red Kite Sensations Project. Colleagues of James’ from the Geography department popped along to find out what we had been up to.

Children, families and community members will be welcomed into school on Thursday 5th July to our open day where they will have the opportunity to see what we have been up to.
